The Dayton Triangles

Tom Archdeacon has a story about the recognition that the NFL is going to be giving to Dayton regarding the first NFL game having been played here on October 3, 1920. I had heard about the football field they were going to build for the city but I hadn't known that the NFL came to Dayton last year and was just blown away by the passion this region has for sports. Neil Sullivan played a big part in those discussions. It turns out that the Dayton Triangles started as a team comprised of players from St Mary's College which of course became the university which we all know and love. I encourage all to read this because it really tells how special a place this town is, and how much pride we all have, when it comes to our teams and the unique place it holds in the histories of so many sports. Archdeacon outdid himself with this piece.
