There were reminders on the court during Saturday's Section II Class A girls' basketball final of what Averill Park lost to graduation, especially during some spotty moments in the fourth quarter against Queensbury. As the game concluded at Hudson Valley Community College, reminders of the past where present to celebrate the latest installment of a Section II athletic dynasty.
Averill Park, a program without a title prior to the arrival of coach Sean Organ, produced another defensive gem and survived a binge of turnovers late to register a 50-41 victory over the Spartans. The win provided the top-seeded Warriors their sixth straight championship and 11th since 2006.
