Kansas Wesleyan men's basketball had three players earn All-KCAC honors headlined by James Brooks (JR/Cherokee, Kan.) earning the KCAC Newcomer of the Year award as the 2018-19 All-KCAC selections have been announced by the conference office.
The All-KCAC selections were made by the conference coaches.
Brooks was a second team selection, while Marquis Kraemer (SO/Aurora, Colo.) and AJ Range (SO/Junction City, Kan.) earned spots on the honorable mention team. Kraemer was also named to the All-KCAC Defensive team.
Brooks has had an excellent first season with the Coyotes. He leads the team in scoring, averaging 16.4 points per game overall and 17.4 points per game in conference play. He ranks seventh in the conference in scoring average. Brooks scored 38 points against Bethany on January 7, the ninth-highest total by any player in the conference this season. He also led the KCAC in 3's made per game, ranked third in steals per game and was fourth in the conference in 3-point percentage.
Kraemer was named to the honorable mention and to the all-defense teams for the conference. He ranked second for the Coyotes in scoring, averaging 10.2 points per game overall and 10.6 per game in conference play. He had 39 steals during conference play and 82 assists, ranking fourth and 11th respectively, in the conference in those categories. Kraemer was also a defensive presence on the court for the Coyotes, many times called upon to guard the opponent's leading scorer. Three times this season Kraemer was named KCAC Defensive Player of the Week.
Post player Range also earned a nod on the honorable mention squad. Range made great strides into his sophomore campaign, earning a spot in the starting lineup 17 times, 14 times in conference play, while averaging 9.3 points and a team-best 6.9 rebounds per game in conference play.
KWU is the No. 4 seed in the KCAC tournament which begins with the quarterfinals on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. Wesleyan hosts fifth-seeded Ottawa inside Mabee Arena. The winner will face the winner between top seed Oklahoma Wesleyan and Bethany at 2 p.m. Saturday.
