Fred VanVleet to miss three weeks with thumb ligament injury

VanVleet suffered the injury in Saturday’s win over the Knicks.

The Raptors just can’t get lucky with injuries. After Jonas Valanciunas missed nearly two months of time with a thumb injury, before being traded away, the Raptors released news today that guard Fred VanVleet will miss three weeks with a similar injury.

As the team says, VanVleet will be in the splint for three weeks before being re-evaluated.

The unfortunate part of all this, of course, is the timeline. Three weeks without VanVleet will take the Raptors to the beginning of March, shortening the time a completely healthy squad can play together to about six weeks.

On the bright side, the signing of Jeremy Lin is on the way, bolstering the Raptors depth at point guard behind Kyle Lowry.

What are your thoughts on this news and how it’ll affect the Raptors?
