Siena basketball's Thomas Huerter Jr. makes most of second chance
Saints head coach Jamion Christian gave Huerter that opportunity against Iona on Saturday afternoon. He responded with 19 impactful minutes in the 56-54 victory over the Gaels.
He made his first two baskets of the season, the second one a 3-pointer that seemed to touch every part of the rim during a 15-0 run that gave Siena the lead in the second half.
He also grabbed three rebounds and was on the court down the stretch in place of Sloan Seymour.
"He's been great,'' Christian said. "He's been outstanding. He's been working through it. That's a tough thing when you're not getting a chance to play, and you play early (in the season) and you don't play in the middle. That's a tough thing. You've got to be a really mentally tough person and be able to battle through that in the course of a season."
