Analysis: Warriors struggling on the road much like rest of the West
The entire Western Conference has been unable to get consistent road wins to start the 2018-2019 season
Has anyone noticed how nobody in the Western Conference has a stellar road record? I’ve taken the liberty to list the West’s current seeding accompanied with their current road wins-losses.
- Nuggets 9-8
- Warriors 9-8
- Thunder 10-9
- Clippers 9-10
- Rockets 8-10
- Lakers 8-10
- Trailblazers 7-10
- Spurs 6-12
- Kings 9-10
- Grizzlies 8-10
- Jazz 10-11
- Mavericks 2-15
- Timberwolves 5-13
- Pelicans 4-15
- Suns 4-15
The Warriors’ eight road losses in the first three months of the season have to be particularly jarring for their success-drunk fans, despite the rash of injuries that plagued the roster. Their road record was 28-13 during the first title run of this current dynasty in 2014-2015. That zoomed up to 34-7 during the 73-win 2015-2016 campaign. It slightly fell back to 31-10 in 2016-2017, Kevin Durant’s first season with the team. It dipped back to 29-12 during last year’s title run, a season that was considered a “down year” by many in Dub Nation. #firstworldnbaproblems
Additional tidbit: According to Warriors PR, this season the champs are 3-6 on the road vs Western Conference foes, and 14-9 against them overall. The Warriors have a chance to get some of their “road warrior” swagger back in their matchup against the Phoenix Suns tonight. Phoenix has won only 5 of their 18 home games, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they dropped this one against the Dubs.
