[Women's Basketball] Trevecca Women's Basketball | Trojans Drop New Year's Eve Battle with Lee
NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University women's basketball team (3-8, 2-3 G-MAC) lost to Lee University (9-3, 4-1 GSC), 74-61, in Trojan Fieldhouse on New Year's Eve.
SERIES HISTORY/NOTES
The Trojans and Flames had not since the 2012 season when the teams played on an annual basis. Lee owns a 13-11 advantage in the 24-game series.
The Trojans last played a game on New Year's Eve during the 2010-2011 season. Trevecca fell on the road to Indiana Wesleyan as part of the Rosa Stokes Classic which was hosted by Cumberland University.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trevecca jumped out to a 6-2 lead which it held until Taylor Boggess connected for her only 3-pointer to give the Flames their only lead of the quarter, 7-6 … Trevecca led 13-9 after the first frame … early in the second, the teams traded leads before Lee went on a 6-0 run to take a 27-21 advantage which they would not surrender … Lee led 32-26 at the break … Adi Hale (SR/Lexington, TN) trimmed the Flames lead to three at 32-29 to begin the third quarter, but it was all Lee from then on … Lee went on to outscore Trevecca by seven in the second half to earn a 74-61 victory.
TEAM STATS BREAKDOWN
Lee converted on 48% of their field goals (26-54) while TNU made 37% as a team (20-54) … Lee shot a better clip from 3-point range (40%) than Trevecca (18%) while TNU (63%) just edged LU (57%) in free-throw shooting … the Trojans led the rebounding battle 40-30 while the Flames had more assists, 14-9 … both teams had seven steals.

Adi Hale led the way for the Trojans with 18 points and 10 rebounds … McKenzie Kilburn (JR/Summertown, TN) also registered in double figures with 16 points (5-7 from the foul line) and four rebounds … Brianna Bryant (JR/Athens, TN) turned in a six-point, seven rebound, three steal, and two assist effort … Kacie Wallace (SR/Corydon, KY) helped out with four points and seven rebounds off the bench.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Trojans begin the 2019 portion of their schedule with a five-game road trip beginning on Thursday when they face Kentucky Wesleyan (8-3, 4-1 G-MAC) at 5:30 PM. The Panthers own a 10-5 lead in the all-time series.
