[Cross Country] Madonna WXC Finishes as National Runner-Up

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - (Official Results) - The Madonna women's cross country team made history Friday morning at Seminole Valley Park. In their first season qualifying for the NAIA Women's Cross Country National Championships, the Crusaders finished as national runner-ups and set the mark for the highest finish ever of any WHAC teams. Madonna finished with 132 points second to Oregon Tech's 126 points behind Alison Shapic and Christina Murphy who finished 13th and 14th. 

Aquinas finished sixth with 243 points behind Alexis Miller's sixth-place finish and Cornerstone was 15th with 453 points. Indiana Tech rounded out the WHAC scoring at 32nd with 822 points.

Six runners earned All-American status by finishing in the top 30 individuals. Miller from Aquinas, Shapic, Murphy and Gurne from Madonna, Madison Paquette from Cleary who competed as an individual only and finished 18th, and Kelli Smith of Cornerstone. 

Casie Nadasky of Siena Heights, the second individual qualifier, finished 132nd.
