[Women's Basketball] Trevecca Women's Basketball | #9 Drury Take Trojans in Pops Duncan Finale
NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University women's basketball team defeated Drury University 82-54 in the final game of the 13th Annual Pops Duncan Classic played at Trojan Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon.
SERIES HISTORY/NOTES
This was the fourth meeting between TNU and DU in the NCAA era. The two teams have met the last two years in the Pops Duncan Classic following Trevecca participating in Dury's Classic two years previously. Drury leads the all-time series 4-0
HOW IT HAPPENED
Drury scored the opening basket and led by as many nine at 11-2 … TNU rallied with an 11-2 run to trail by just one, 14-13 after the first quarter … DU hit a free-throw to open the second frame, but TNU tied it at 15-15 with a jumper from McKenzie Kilburn … TNU earned their first lead at 18-17 when Callie Hackett's 3-pointer was good with 7:17 to play in the first half … the game was tied again at 20-20 with 4:47 to play … Drury used a 9-0 run to lead 29-20 and led by eight (36-28) at halftime … DU opened the second half on a 13-0 run before Briana Bryant cut into the Panthers lead with a 3-pointer … the second and third quarter were dominated by the Panthers who outscored Trevecca 22-15 and 29-13 respectively and combined for a 61-28 advantage over the two quarters, Drury outscored Trevecca 31-26 combined in the first and fourth quarters

Drury led two key statistical categories with a 44-35 advantage in rebounding and forced 38 Trojan turnovers while turning the ball over 21 times themselves … Drury outscored Trevecca 37-18 on points scored off of turnover and 26-10 on points in the paint

The Trojans travel to Clarksville, Tennessee to challenge NCAA Division I, Austin Peay on Nov. 14 at 7PM. The game is the Trojans final exhibition game of the season. TNU is 0-4 all-time against APSU, falling by just eight points a season ago. TNU led after the first and second quarters of that game.
