[Women's Basketball] #23 Bryan College upends Lady Knights Basketball

LAURINBURG, NC - The St. Andrews University women's basketball team fell to conference foe #23 Bryan College (Tenn.) 69-57 Saturday afternoon.
The Knights began the game very strong as the majority of the game was very close between the two AAC teams, but the Lions took over the last quarter and were able to gain a strong lead on SAU.
St. Andrews shot 28 percent for the game while Bryan shot 36 percent and dominated from the 3-point range. Bryan was able to sink 10 out of 21 attempted 3-pointers, as St. Andrews struggled shooting 4 for 15 from the 3-point arc. Each team had a costly amount of turnovers as the Lions of Bryan College recorded 15 and St. Andrews tallied 20.
Junior forward Yontyanna Melvin (JR/ Gastonia, NC) led all scorers in the game scoring 18 for the Knights along with six rebounds while junior Samantha Ring (JR/ Carthage, NC) helped out the offense with her nine points.
Leading in rebounds was sophomore forward Morgan Perkins (FR/ Florence, SC) with eight while freshman point guard Alexis Murriel (FR/ Gastonia, NC) led in assists with three.
With the loss, St. Andrews falls to 0-3 overall and 0-2 in the conference while Bryan improves to 3-1 and 2-0 in the AAC.
St. Andrews will next be in action on the road at Milligan College next Tuesday at 5:30 p.m
