[IWU] IWU in the NAIA Polls
MARION, Ind. – Eight Wildcat teams currently represent Indiana Wesleyan University in NAIA Coaches’ Polls. Women’s swimming is ranked for the first time in program history, men’s basketball is in a familiar spot, and men’s cross country cracks the top-five.
MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY – No. 5
Indiana Wesleyan improves two spots to No. 5 in the new poll released on Wednesday. IWU finished second of 19 teams at the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge and finished a mere seven points behind No. 2 St. Francis (Ill.). The No. 5 ranking is the highest for the Wildcats since a No. 3 ranking in the November 25, 2015 Postseason Poll.

WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY – No. 21
The Wildcats moved up two spots for the second consecutive poll and are now a season-best No. 21. IWU was seventh out of 20 teams at the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge but all six teams in front of the Wildcats were highly ranked.

VOLLEYBALL – Receiving votes
Indiana Wesleyan is receiving votes in the poll released on October 16 and the next poll will be revealed October 30. The Wildcats are 19-11 overall and 12-4 in the Crossroads League. IWU has won 17 of their last 19 matches and completes the 2018 regular season with home matches on Friday and Saturday.

MEN’S BASKETBALL – No. 1
The defending national champions are the top-ranked team in NAIA Division II as the Preseason Poll was released on Tuesday. Indiana Wesleyan is already off to a 1-0 start this year and has early tests the next five days vs. No. 7 Cornerstone (Mich.) on Saturday in Grand Rapids, Michigan and No. 2 IU East on Tuesday in Luckey Arena.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL – No. 15
Indiana Wesleyan is No. 15 in the NAIA Preseason Poll released on Tuesday. IWU finished No. 17 in the final poll of 2017-18 under first year head coach Ethan Whaley. The Wildcats start the new campaign off with a bang vs. No. 1 Concordia (Neb.) on Friday at the NAIA Showcase Invitational at Viterbo (Wis.) in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

WOMEN’S SWIMMING – No. 7
For the first time in program history the women’s swimming team is ranked in the NAIA Coaches’ Poll. Indiana Wesleyan is tied for No. 7 with College of Idaho. The second year program opened the season with a fifth place finish at the Indiana Intercollegiate held at Purdue as seven Wildcats qualified for the NAIA National Championship.

MEN’S GOLF – No. 21
Indiana Wesleyan is ranked No. 21 in the NAIA Coaches’ Poll that was released on October 12. The next poll will be published on November 9. The Wildcats ended the fall campaign on October 23 with a sixth place finish at the Whistling Straight Intercollegiate Invitational in Kohler, Wisconsin.

WOMEN’S GOLF – No. 24
The Wildcats rank No. 24 in the national poll released on October 12. There is not another poll until November 9. Indiana Wesleyan earned third or better in all seven competitions this fall that concluded with a third place finish on October 23 at the Whistling Straight Intercollegiate Invitational.
