Lots of rain, but Game 1 of the World Series starts on time
There has been pouring rain at Fenway Park in Boston, but Game 1 of the World Series is still expected to start on time. The first pitch is scheduled for 8:09 p.m. ET. .
The Dodgers and Red Sox last met in the Fall Classic in 1916. They have already waited 102 years for a rematch, so a few more minutes, or hours, or even a extra day wouldn’t be that big of a deal.

We were weather free last year in the World Series with dry Los Angeles and a roof in Houston. There was a rain delay late in Game 7 of the thrilling 2016 Fall Classic between the Cubs and Indians in Cleveland.
The last time a World Series game was postponed by rain was Game 6 in 2011, when rain in St. Louis moved the Cardinals and Rangers back one day. So that meant “We’ll see you tomorrow night” had to wait an extra night before it could even be said.
David Freese, who authored the home run in that moment for St. Louis, starts at first base for the Dodgers in Game 1 of this series against the Red Sox.
