Mariota was sacked 11 times by the Ravens. He completed 10 passes

Marcus Mariota and the Titans offensive line gave up a Ravens franchise record 11 sacks on Sunday. Yeah, it wasn’t pretty.

The Tennessee Titans are 3-3 and still in a good position in the AFC South, but their 21-0 loss to the Baltimore Ravens was particularly ugly for a number of reasons. On the other hand, it was a pretty great game for Baltimore, who is now 4-2 on the season.

Where it was good for the Ravens: they managed to sack Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota 11 times. The last 11-sack game was in 2012, when the Chargers sacked Greg McElroy of the Jets 11 times. In 2007, the Giants sacked Donovan McNabb of the Eagles 12 times — the only two 11-sack games since the Ravens became an NFL team in 1996.

Those 11 sacks are also a franchise record for a single game for Baltimore.

Where it was also good for the Ravens: they held Mariota to 117 yards (before sacks), and Tennessee managed just 55 yards rushing, only 30 of which came from running backs.

But this is where it gets really ugly for Tennessee: Mariota was sacked more times than he completed passes. Mariota went 10-for-15 for a net 51 yards after applying the 11 Ravens for a loss of 66 yards. In other words, there was one more Ravens sack than there were Tennessee completions. Mariota was sacked on 42.31 percent of his dropbacks.

Just to pile on, the Titans also allowed 238 yards and a touchdown through the air, and 123 yards and a pair of touchdowns on the ground, while sacking Joe Flacco zero times.

The players who earned the sacks were Za’Darius Smith (3), Patrick Onwuassor (2), and then these six players each earning one: Matthew Judon, Terrell Suggs, Tony Jefferson, Kenny Young, Anthony Levine Sr., and Chris Wormley.

That was ugly.
