Bulls claim Tyler Ulis off waivers

0 7

The Golden State’s training camp invite will not be helping the Warriors this year.

If you liked what you saw in the preseason from Tyler Ulis, and were hoping he may give the Golden State Warriors some point guard depth later on in the year, then sorry to let you down. A day after being waived by Golden State, Ulis was claimed off waivers by the Chicago Bulls.

Ulis had signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Warriors, meaning that, after being waived, he could join the Santa Cruz Warriors and receive fiscal incentives for staying within the organization.

But instead of heading to Santa Cruz, Ulis will get a chance to catch on in Chicago, where he’ll join the young, unproven, and often uninspiring duo of Cameron Payne and Ryan Arcidiacono in the fight for back-of-the-bench point guard minutes.

The Bulls will give Ulis their second two-way contract, which gives him a lot more financial security than Golden State’s Exhibit 10 deal.

The other three players waived by the Warriors - Deyonta Davis, Danuel House Jr., and Kendrick Nunn - remain unclaimed, and, for the time being, are eligible to head to Golden State’s G-League affiliate in Santa Cruz.
