Kenyan Drake was overjoyed that his goal-line fumble didn’t cost the Dolphins a win

Kenyan Drake almost blew the game for the Dolphins, but they were able to hold on for an overtime win.

The Dolphins almost made a colossal mistake in their 31-28 overtime win against the Chicago Bears.

On their first drive in overtime, Dolphins got down to the Bears’ 1 yard-line almost exclusively off the legs of Frank Gore. Gore, who is 35 years old, had four carries for 49 yards — his last carry ending at the goal line. The Dolphins ran the ball three plays in a row once they got to first-and-goal, which is an interesting decision considering the Bears haven’t given up a rushing touchdown all year.

On the third carry, disaster happened.

Miami must’ve thought that Gore needed a rest because Kenyan Drake came in on third down. Drake fumbled the ball literally inches away from scoring a touchdown and looked to squander a great effort by Gore to get them in that position.

Luckily for Drake and the Dolphins, the Bears missed a potential game-winning field goal on their next drive. Adam Gase showed some faith in Drake by giving him the ball on their first two plays after the missed field goal — he had a reception that went for 15 yards and put the Dolphins in field goal range.

Jason Sanders then hit a 47-yard field goal to win the game for Miami. Drake was overcome with emotion after the game, which is understandable considering he almost blew it.

Instead, the Dolphins improved to 4-2.
