Love, Hill, Korver out for Saturday’s preseason game

Tristan Thompson could also miss the second Celtics matchup of the week.

When the Cavs face the Celtics for a second time this week on Saturday, a few key players won’t be on the court.

At Friday’s practice, coach Tyronn Lue said that Kevin Love, George Hill and Kyle Korver will “for sure” be out against Boston. Lue also said that it’s possible Tristan Thompson will miss the game as well, but that all four players will play in the team’s final two preseason games next week.

“I want to give the young guys a chance to play and see what we have,” Lue said. “We still have a position open, so I want to give guys a chance to play and see what they do and give them a chance to perform when the lights are on instead of just in practice.”

J.R. Smith, who missed Tuesday’s game, will play according to Lue. It is unclear who will make up the Cavs’ starting five on Saturday, but Lue aid Sexton will start in Hill’s place. Sam Dekker could start in Love’s place and Larry Nance Jr. would take Thompson’s spot. No Korver would open up minutes for Smith, but also David Nwaba, Isaiah Taylor, Kobi Simmons and others.
