Don’t overlook how the Chiefs OL is helping Patrick Mahomes

0 11

Fresh, hot pancakes from the Chiefs, Bears, Rams and more!

What a week it was for disrespectful blocks in the NFL. There were a legit 15 blocks that could be on this reel, but I narrowed it down to six wonderful blocks and bonus one from the NCAA. As usual, thank you for sending suggestions my way. I LOVE getting feedback and support for this project. So thanks again.

This week we are all over the place. First, we have the winner of the most disrespectful blocker of the year from last season, Raiders guard Kelechi Osemele, leading us off. His block is exactly how you teach someone to block on zone. Run off the ball, make contact on the second step and explode through the block. Just lovely.

The Browns have struggled to win games, but Desmond Harrison hasn’t struggled much as the new left tackle for the squad. Here we see Harrison pulling a toss, seeking the linebacker and knocking him down on the run. Super athletic play.

I’m not sure there’s a better guard blocking on the run right now than Bears guard Kyle Long. By the way, it’s awesome seeing Kyle healthy again. He’s a big addition to that offensive line and it showed again on Monday night. Here’s Kyle pulling on a G play, and he flattens this linebacker with just one arm.

Y’all know how much I enjoy a non offensive lineman laying the lumber. Here’s Rams backup running back Malcolm Brown just destroying a blitzing linebacker. My favorite part of this clip is Brown celebrating after the play. He knows he just dominated this guy.

The Chiefs offense is on fire. Pat Mahomes has thrown for 10 touchdowns in two weeks. He deserves all the credit he’s received, but we also need to give a shout out to his offensive line. Here’s Cam Erving throwing a defender to the ground like a rag doll. This is violent!

I rarely put college film on this reel because it’s hard to gather the film and quite frankly, a pancake in the NFL is much harder to come by. This clip of a San Diego State lineman from Saturday against Arizona State had to be included. The right tackle obliterates this safety while the left tackle dominates his man into the ground.

Lastly, we go back to Los Angeles with Rams right guard Austin Blythe. He has been filling in for Jamon Brown, and he’s done a fantastic job. That offense keeps chugging along. Blythe gets an awesome pancake here late in the game against the Cardinals. There are plenty of examples of Blythe finishing so watch the Rams film for more.

Here’s this week’s video with all the blocks, which you’ll also find on my Facebook page.
