[Men's Basketball] Bearcats Excited About Final Recruiting Class

The Brescia University Men's Basketball Program finished their 2018-19 recruiting class with a fleury of late commitments.  The Bearcats added a pair of Daviess County High School Seniors Blake Boswell and Caden Coomes. Boswell averaged 16.2PPG while shooting 39% from the three point line. Coomes averaged 10.3 PPG while shooting 32.6% from the three point line.  "We are very happy that both of these young men decided to play ball here at Brescia.  Blake can really shoot the basketball and is a very smart player and Caden is a young man we feel fits our transition style of play very well.  He can make plays in the open floor and knock down the open look." stated Head Coach Brian Skortz. The Bearcats have also added three transfers Demetrice Mitchell from Vermillion CC, DeMario Newman from Lassen CC and Keandre Randall from Baton Rouge CC.  Mitchell a 6'5" guard who averaged 21.4 PPG and over 10 RPG while shooting 54% from the field at Vermillion, brings the Bearcats some size and scoring punch to the guard position.  Newman a 6'7" forward who was named to the all conference defensive team averaged 7 PPG and 7 RPG. Randall a 5'9" point guard from Louisiana will provide the Bearcats some needed experience at the point guard position and was an effective scorer in High School averaging over 21 PPG while being named 2nd Team All State honors, he also scored over 1000 points in his high school career.  "These three transfer students really brings our program some added fire power offensively but also some needed defensive help as well.  We are really excited about what these three can bring to our program." added Coach Skortz.  The last commit is Hazar Bayaktar from Turkey.  Hazar played at Gateway High School in Illinois.  Hazar has very good range and sees the floor very well. "Hazar knows how to play.  He does a great job of getting his teammates involved.  He is a really good spot shooter that has deep range. We are excited that he is here." stated Coach Skortz.

The Bearcats will open the 2018-19 seson on the road at Olivet Nazarene University on October 26th.
