Elena Delle Donne’s knee injury is just a bone bruise. She’s questionable for Game 3 of the semifinals.
This was MUCH better news than most expected.
Elena Delle Donne’s knee injury is a left bone bruise, the Washington Mystics announced on Tuesday. She’s listed as questionable for Game 3 of the team’s semifinals series against the Atlanta Dream.
The former MVP went down in the final minutes of the fourth quarter of a two-point game against Dream series clutching her knee on Tuesday night. The team fell in the final stretch, 78-75, and now the best-of-five series is tied, 1-1.
The injury is a bit gruesome to watch, but here it is for those curious.
On Wednesday afternoon, Elena Delle Donne’s wife, Amanda, posted a video that the Mystics forward was able to move on her knee.

This was a real scare for the Mystics, and the news she can come back might’ve saved their chance at making the Finals for the first time in franchise history. Delle Donne’s teammates have called her “The One,” and she’s the team’s go-to scoring option. She averages 21 points, seven rebounds and two assists per game.
If Washington can outlast Atlanta, the’d play the winner of the Storm vs. Mercury series for a chance at a title. With Delle Donne possibly back in the fold, that goal feels like a reality.
