The California Pacific Conference opened the 2018 season with two teams earning recognition in the Top 25 preseason poll voted on by NAIA coaches. Marymount California, which reached the NAIA National Quarterfinals last fall, rolled out of the gates with a 3-0 win over (RV) Hope International, and No. 23 UC Merced shutdown No. 22 Westmont 1-0.
Simpson won its opener by running past Walla Walla, Providence Christian also registered a shutout in its first game of the season, a 2-0 decision over Saint Katherine, and Soka University of America picked up its first win of the year with a convincing 7-2 win over Walla Walla.
