OK, we'll keep our trolling to ourselves
It is a kind and appropriate convention that we on SBNation encourage restraint (silence) rather than go troll other teams' fans on their sites. And yet, it seems such a shame to have such terrific material and not get to use it.
This topic is for listing all the great jibes we otherwise don't get to use. I'll start.
- Houston fans sure talk a big game considering they still are one win short of being down 3-1.
- Ever notice that no one ever mentions the 73-win team except in the context of griping about KD's decision?
- We could just reply to every Warrior-hater with "Scoreboard," but after the Boogie signing I think I prefer "Lightyears."
- If what KD did was so unprecedented, then name another guy who declined a max offer from a team because it would have made them "too good."
- I don't know about you, but I think the Warriors' offseason response to losing the finals was better than the Cavs.'
- They like to call the Warriors "lucky." I'll go with the new metric definition of luck - it's an event that cannot be explained by anything other than random chance. Steph's cheap contract was not luck... it was sharing risk between upside and downside for both sides with eyes wide open. The luckiest team in history is the one that had the greatest player of his generation (if not all time) born in their neighborhood, then get 3 overall #1 draft picks in four years. Those knuckleheads only managed one title in 11 years with the dude and even that one came thanks to a suspension brought about by his taunting and whining.
- There has never been a righteous achievement award for the guys who passed up better teams to lead weaker ones to championships. That’s because no one really ever made that decision.
Calling guys "soft" or "pussies" for joining the Warriors is what is left over when
1) You can’t blame a team for wanting to get better
2) You can’t find any rules that they broke
3) You can’t argue against free agency, free will, and personal happiness
4) Every objectionable aspect of what the player’s done has already been done by many others
5) You can’t stand that your team is inferior to the bestIt’s a criticism with nothing but salt behind it. It’s a stand-in for "I got nothing. Sucks for us."
