Why Lakers fans should and shouldn’t freak out about LeBron James’ spotting in Los Angeles

0

Fans are drawing conclusions that could mean nothing.

NBA Twitter is thirsty as ever for fresh Woj bombs and other types of free agency news, and it doesn’t know how to control itself — honestly who can blame them. Saturday afternoon reached its peak ahead of Sunday’s free agency commencement.

Fans and even some media went to Van Nuys airport in Los Angeles to see if a previously online-stalked plane popularized on Twitter truly was carrying LeBron James.

It was.

Still, that does not mean LeBron is signing with the Lakers. People forget he owns a home in L.A.

Let’s backtrack a minute.

People found LeBron’s plane?

Yep. This was a thing we pointed out in our LeBron conspiracy blog. There was a direct flight from Anguilla (home of the Decision Cave) to California, so maybe it wasn’t too difficult to track, but yes, the internet found it.

ESPN reporter Arash Markazi and others camped out at the airport to find James

Markazi detailed his trip, showing his In-N-Out fries waiting in front of where James’ plane was supposed to land.

There was a helicopter hovering over the strip.

Then fans started to gather.

Lots of waiting persisted until...

Someone spotted LeBron

The internet’s greatest NBA conspiracy theorist of the day, Alex Harmer, found James with his luggage.

Why’s that a big deal?

Well it is and it isn’t. Starting at 12:01 a.m. ET (9:01 p.m. on Saturday PST), free agents can start talking to teams about signing and make verbal commitments. So maybe James is there to meet with L.A. This could mean something.

Or... maybe he’s just there because he lives there. James is known to have spent summers in L.A. and this could mean nothing.

So LeBron to the Lakers isn’t confirmed?

No, you impatient content-consuming hungry, hungry hippos.

We’ll have to wait to find out.
