NBA draft 2018 live results: Pick-by-pick tracker for rounds 1 and 2
The future of the NBA begins with the 2018 draft. On Thursday night, 29 teams will continue their plot to dethrone the Golden State Warriors and claim a title of their own.
Big men are the focus of this year’s draft. With Duke’s pair in Marvin Bagley III and Wendell Carter Jr., Arizona’s Deandre Ayton, Texas’ Mo Bamba and Michigan State’s Jaren Jackson Jr., there’s a flock of potential unicorns teams are salivating over. And on top of that, two of the most entertaining guards in recent memory — Oklahoma’s Trae Young and Real Madrid phenom Luka Doncic — are in the mix with any high lottery pick.
It’s all a matter of taste in this draft. Want someone who could just be the next Steph Curry? Young’s your guy. Want a longer Rudy Gobert with a growing jumper? Take Bamba. Willing to take a risk on one of the best players in his class despite his recent spine injury? Run with Michael Porter Jr. What about the best prospect Europe has ever produced? Luka Doncic is it.
This year’s draft is a true chance for terrible teams to ... stop being terrible. The Suns, Kings and Hawks will select 1-2-3, with the chance to find a franchise cornerstone. These teams can ill afford to mess it up unless they want to be back in the same place next season.
