Full finishing order of the horses at the Belmont

0

We have the full finishing order for the 2018 Belmont Stakes.

The horse racing world was once again in a frenzy over the potential for a Triple Crown winner going into the 2018 Belmont Stakes, and their hopes were fulfilled when Justify took the 150th running of the race on Saturday.

Justify took the lead right out of the gate, with stablemate Restoring Hope following closely in second. It was a 48.11-second half-mile to start. Justify never lost the lead throughout the entire race, separating down the final stretch to take the win and the Triple Crown.

Justify handily won both the Kentucky Derby (the first jewel) and the Preakness Stakes (the second jewel) and was the heavy favorite going into the 10-horse Belmont (the third and final jewel of the Triple Crown) around the 1 12 mile track. American Pharoah won the Triple Crown in 2015, becoming the first horse to do it in 37 years.

That horse, like Justify, was trained by Bob Baffert. It’s rare in the racing world see a horse as polished and favored as Justify, though the Belmont is considered the “Test of Champions” for a reason, and the betting lines slowly allowed all of Vino Rosso, Bravazo and Hofburg to become co-second-favorites as the race got closer.

The purse for the Belmont is $1.5 million, with $800,000 of that going to the ownership of the horse that wins it. Second place earns $280,000 while third place takes home $150,000. The jockey’s cut is, typically, 10 percent of the ownership share.

Below, you can see the full finishing order for Saturday’s race.

1. Justify
2. Gronkowski
3. Hofburg
4. Vino Rosso
5. Tenfold
6. Bravazo
7. Free Drop Billy
8. Restoring Hope
9. Blended Citizen
10. Noble Indy
