Alex Bregman got to tell his brother he was drafted by the Astros

Houston also drafted Carlos Correa’s brother.

The Houston Astros took the brothers of both Alex Bregman and Carlos Correa in the late rounds of the MLB Draft on Wednesday, with J.C Correa going in the 33rd round and A.J. Bregman going in the 35th.

While this is probably just a token gesture by the team (players this late becoming stars is unlikely, but hey, it could happen), it’s a nice thing to do. Before the Astros game against the Mariners on Wednesday night, the elder Bregman got to surprise his younger brother with the good news in person.

The MLB Draft is more about moments (and the names) than the results, since it’s three days of hundreds of obscure players who aren’t going to play in the majors being drafted one after the other, and this is one of those moments.

This is extra worth it for the look on A.J. Bregman’s face when he thinks his brother is messing with him for a split second before he goes to look it up himself. No matter how old you get, brother relationships stay the same.
