Danny Duffy hilariously dismissed “pitching advice” from a fan

0

That was easy.

In 64.2 innings through 12 starts this season, Royals pitcher Danny Duffy has a 5.70 ERA, a ERA+ of 75, and has a 1.577 WHIP. Those are all at or near career worsts for the eight-season veteran. So his pitching hasn’t been top notch, we can all agree.

But it’s just barely June and it’s not like the Royals are having a stellar pitching year as a whole either. Four of the five pitchers in Kansas City’s preferred five-man rotation have an ERA of 5.15 or higher. Their struggles aren’t Duffy’s fault.

That didn’t keep a fan from sending a letter to Duffy outlining all the ways he can improve from his fastball to his breaking ball placement to pitch strategy at certain counts. But the last bullet point in this long list of guidance is the funniest, because of the impossibility of it happening in a normal pitching situation.

The letter says the “left foot cannot pass the right foot” on the follow through. Duffy took the time to show a step-by-step reasoning of why that’s not really a concern.

And he did it all while wearing a KCAF shirt, which makes this [thinks] a thousand times better.
