LeBron James named to All-NBA First Team

It’s the 11th straight year James has made the first team.

For the 11th straight season, LeBron James has been named to All-NBA first team. The Cavaliers forward, along with Rockets guard James Harden, was one of two players to be unanimously named to the first team.

This is the 14th time James has been selected to an All-NBA team. It’s also James’ 12th time on the first team, a NBA record. Kobe Bryant and Karl Malone previously held the record with 11 appearances on the All-NBA first team.

James played in all 82 games this season, averaging 27.5 points, 8.6 rebounds and 9.1 assists per game. This rebound and assist averages are new career highs, while he finished third in the league in points per game. James was also an All-Star and won four player of the month awards.

How good James was this season underscores the frustrating nature of the Cavaliers. Even at 33 years old, and in his 15th season, LeBron was still an elite player and pushing his game forward. With a better supporting cast, maybe James would have a better shot at a fourth title this season. Instead, the Cavs are down 3-2 in the Eastern Conference Finals to a team missing both Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward and will be significant underdogs to either the Warriors or Rockets in the NBA Finals if they make it.

Kevin Love was the only other Cavalier to receive an All-NBA vote.
