Lightning host Capitals in pivotal Game 5

0

Eastern Conference Final is tied 2-2.

The Eastern Conference Final has yet to see a home team win a game, and the Washington Capitals and Tampa Bay Lightning shift to Amalie Arena in Tampa, Fla. for Game 5 on Saturday night (7:15 p.m. ET, NBC).

Washington appeared to seize control of this series with road wins in the first two contests in Tampa Bay, outscoring the Lightning 10-4 in the process. But Tampa Bay returned the favor with consecutive 4-2 victories at Capital One Arena in Washington D.C.

“I think we look at it realistically,” Capitals coach Barry Trotz told the Associated Press, downplaying the last two home losses. “I mean, I said to everybody in September, even yesterday, and they’re saying the same thing: Sign me up. Best-of-three, got a chance to maybe go to the Stanley Cup Final, sign me up.”

Steven Stamkos has scored in all four games in this series for the Lightning and Brayden Point has scored in each of the last three contests. Both are tied for Tampa’s team lead with six points in the series.

Evgeny Kuznetsov leads the Caps with seven points in the series and has scored in each of the last three contests.

The Lightning were 29-10-2 at Amalie Arena during the regular season, tied for the third-most home wins in the NHL. They won four of their five home games this postseason before this series.
