Today, Steph Curry Became a Digital Cat
Steph Purry
The Golden State Warriors are one of my first loves. Breeding digital cats is one of my newer loves. Yes, you heard that right: I love breeding digital cats.
Cryptokitties is a game on the Ethereum blockchain that allows users to buy/sell/breed digital cats. Players can select a cat and breed it with another digital kitty to make a kitten that expresses "cattributes" from its parents. Cats are then held, sold or sired out. I am not affiliated with Cryptokitties in any way. I truly just love the game and have been playing since this past December. Imagine my surprise when Warriors basketball, and the digital kitten breeding world came crashing into each other early this morning at 1 AM PDT.
Last night, my fellow digital kitten breeding aficionados and I waited up until 1 AM to hear about a big announcement. Some leaks/hints were dropped that a famous celebrity was about to enter the kitty game. Our Discord chat debated furiously at who it could be. Bill Gates/Microsoft? Floyd Mayweather? A European soccer star or celebrity since the announcement was at 1AM? The POTUS? These were some of the thoughts and names floated as we sat impatiently waiting for 1 AM Monday Morning to arrive.
Ethereum kitten breeders are in search of a revolutionary figure to transcend the digital kitty space. We need a digital kitten breeder to do what Stephen Curry did to the NBA. Break the game. This announcement promised to bring such a person. As 1 AM ticked closer, the excitement in the digital cat community was palpable. We had been waiting a full week for this big reveal. Even with the Monday morning workweek looming upon us, sleep was not an option.
1 AM finally arrived. The cryptokitties team went live on stream for the big reveal and dropped a picture of a digital cat covered/hidden by a bunch of basketballs. The basketballs were removed and we all saw it. The first ever Stephen Furry digital kitten/Ethereum blockchain asset. Stephen Furry has walked through that digital kitten breeder door.
Stephen Curry is now the first ever celebrity/athlete to enter the digital collectible market. To partner up with this obscure game that I love, and I know most Warrior fans have never heard of, is pretty surreal. I know my fellow Warrior and Curry fans would want to see our favorite superstar in kitten form. Let me know which one is your favorite.
