[Softball] SU Gains Ground, But Cal Pac Standings Tighten
Following last week's action, the California Pacific Conference softball race for the postseason began to tighten up despite front-running Simpson's continued push to pull away from the pack. Simpson extended its win streak to seven games with a doubleheader sweep over visiting Benedictine-Mesa, creating a three and a half game lead over second-place La Sierra. The Red Hawks have found their stride in conference play, improving to 9-1 with only a few weeks left in the regular season. But the other slots in the postseason tournament are far from decided, as only three games separate LSU and sixth-place Embry-Riddle. All five teams not wearing SU uniforms have a legitimate shot at claiming a berth in the conference tournament.
