Seahawks release Trevone Boykin after domestic assault accusation from girlfriend
Boykin’s girlfriend alleges he left her with a broken jaw swollen and wired shut. He has since been arrested for aggravated assault.
The Seattle Seahawks released quarterback Trevone Boykin Tuesday after an alleged domestic assault on his his girlfriend. He was arrested a day later and charged with aggravated assault.
His girlfriend, whose broken jaw was wired shut, spoke exclusively to WFAA. She said she was at his home in Mansfield, Texas, last Tuesday night, and a argument broke out over a text message on her phone that Boykin wanted to see.
“So he goes into a choke. I remember him choking me and I’m trying to calm him down. And I just couldn’t. And I blacked out. I just couldn’t calm him down at all,” she told WFAA. “The pressure was just hard. The pressure got hard to where I just remember just collapsing completely. And I just woke up in a puddle of blood on the kitchen floor. My whole right side was full of blood on the kitchen floor.”
According to WFAA, Boykin then tried to clean her up, and took her to the hospital, where he fled:
Bailey says Boykin eventually dragged her to a bathtub, took her clothes off and tried to clean her up. Hours later, on Wednesday, she said Boykin drove her to Dallas Regional Medical Center in Mesquite. But when hospital staff separated the couple and began asking them questions independently, she said Boykin fled the hospital and never returned.
Bailey suffered a broken jaw on both her left and right sides. Then, because she was having difficulty breathing from a swollen and constricted airway, she was airlifted to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas for further treatment. She was released from the hospital on Saturday, three days later.
“And I’ve never seen that much blood. I thought I was bleeding from somewhere else cause it was so much blood, completely,” she told WFAA.
Detectives conducted an interview with the victim on Tuesday morning, and confirmed to WFAA that Boykin was under investigation for the alleged assault.
Boykin was arrested in 2017 after being a passenger in a car that crashed into a Dallas bar nearly a year ago to the day. The victim in Tuesday’s accusations was the driver of the car, and now alleges the reason for the crash was because Boykin was attacking her then.
“He leaned over, attacked me, and choked me unconscious which made the car go into drive to reverse,” she said
“Why didn’t you say that a year ago?” we asked.
“I was scared. I was just scared. Terrified, of everything,” she said.
Boykin denied the accusations in a statement:

Boykin signed with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent after the 2016 NFL Draft. He played in five games of limited action as a rookie. He spent the 2017 season on the practice squad, with Austin Davis being the team’s primary backup to Russell Wilson. Davis is currently a free agent and is expected to be re-signed this offseason.
