There are two races Thursday, each one 60 laps and 150 miles. The first race consists of odd-numbered finishers from qualifying, and the second race is between the even finishers.

FS1 will televise the race, with Mike Joy on play-by-play alongside analysts Jeff Gordon and Darrell Waltrip. Online streaming is available through Fox Sports Go.

Daytona 500 news & notes

Danica Patrick will compete in her final NASCAR race on Sunday, but she accidentally publicized her plans to race in the Indianapolis 500 during Wednesday’s media day:

Patrick inadvertently revealed the news while fielding questions during Daytona 500 media day Wednesday at Daytona International Speedway in advance of the final NASCAR race of her career. It was while being asked when she will start preparing for the Indianapolis 500 that she disclosed the news about aligning with Ed Carpenter Racing.

“I didn’t have time to meet up with Ed and the people that ...” Patrick said before catching herself. She then asked the media surrounding her if she had really just mentioned Ed by name.

“Oh, (expletive), did I just say that out loud?” said Patrick before uttering another curse word under her breath. “I’ve never done that in my career.”

Peyton Manning and actress Charlize Theron will have honorary roles for Sunday’s Daytona 500:

Manning will serve as the honorary pace car driver and lead the field off pit road and then come back down pit road just before the green flag waves. Theron’s duties will consist of waving the green flag signifying the start of the 500-mile stock car race that is NASCAR’s biggest event.
