Patriots and Eagles Super Bowl inactives include Kenny Britt, Alan Branch, Sidney Jones
The teams released their lists of seven inactive players.
The Patriots and Eagles released their inactive lists for Sunday’s Super Bowl 52 in Minneapolis. Both can only dress 46 players off their 53-man rosters.
Patriots inactives
- DT Alan Branch
- RB Mike Gillislee
- LB David Harris
- OG Cole Croston
- WR Kenny Britt
- TE Jacob Hollister
- WR Bernard Reedy
Branch was at a Panda Express in the Mall of America on Sunday, so his being declared inactive isn’t the most surprising thing. He made six starts at defensive tackle over the course of the season, but the Super Bowl is his sixth consecutive game inactive. Britt, who spent most of the season with the Browns, hasn’t been inactive all postseason.
Eagles inactives
- OT Will Beatty
- WR Marcus Johnson
- CB Sidney Jones
- DE Steven Means
- DT Elijah Qualls
- RB Wendell Smallwood
- DT Destiny Vaeao
The Eagles’ inactive list is almost the same as it was in the NFC Championship against the Vikings. The only change is that linebacker Dannell Ellerbe joins the lineup, replacing defensive tackle Vaeao.
The Eagles and Patriots both have a bunch of guys on injured reserve.
The Eagles are missing quarterback Carson Wentz, left tackle Jason Peters, running back Darren Sproles, kicker Caleb Sturgis, and linebacker Jordan Hicks, among others. The Patriots don’t have linebacker Dont’a Hightower, receiver Julian Edelman, tight end Martellus Bennett, offensive lineman Marcus Cannon, and defensive back Nate Ebner.
Those players are all, obviously, out, in addition to everyone on the active rosters who won’t suit up. The teams’ final injury reports were light, but they aren’t at full strength.
