Tom Brady has been bitten by dogs twice in his life (but they’re still good dogs)

It’s Super Bowl week, so naturally Tom Brady is talking about the multiple times dogs have bitten him.

Our editorial perspective here at SB Nation is that all dogs are very good dogs. But dogs are still dogs, and sometimes they bite people. On Wednesday, we learned that dogs have bitten Tom Brady not once, but twice.

Brady opened up about these experiences during media availability on Wednesday. He was just a little kid when it happened the first time.

“I gave the dog a bone, and then I went down to give the dog a kiss — I was young — and it bit right through my lip,” Brady said.

The second time was much more recent, though Brady doesn’t remember exactly when it happened.

Brady said that Patriots owner Bob Kraft let a group of military members use Gillette Stadium for some training during the team’s training camp. Brady and some of his teammates got to watch, and afterward they were going to take a photo with the military members.

“I was walking out to the middle of the field, and there’s helicopters flying, and everyone’s lined up,” Brady said. “Some guys were kind of excited to see us walk out, so I was close to all of the guys, and I didn’t realize there were dogs.

“And obviously those weren’t, like, Labradors. Those were tough dogs. I raised my arms up over my head, and right when I raised my arm up, the dog jumped up and I guess was going for my neck.”

The dog’s handler snatched the dog back just in time, and instead of Brady’s neck, the dog bit his thigh. He still has a scar from it.

Brady and his wife, Gisele Bundchen, have three pups named Lua, Fluffy, and Scooby, so it’s not like he’s afraid of dogs or anything. But we may have cracked the case as to why dogs want to sink their teeth into Brady. He plays favorites.

They’re all good dogs, Tom.

On Tuesday, Brady shared a fun anecdote about going fishing with his uncles in Minnesota and trying chewing tobacco and vomiting. Here’s to many more stories from Brady in the days to come.

Based on his track record when canines, maybe Brady should be worried when he goes up against the underdog Eagles.
