USC extends Cal men’s losing skid to eight games
LOS ANGELES - The Cal men’s basketball team has done an admirable job of staying positive and finding little glimpses of hope during a month riddled with losing.
But it’s got to be getting more and more difficult.
The Bears committed 14 first-half turnovers and were barely competitive in the second half of Sunday afternoon’s 77-59 loss to USC at the Galen Center.
Cal (7-15, 1-8 Pac-12) has lost eight consecutive games by 19.4 points per game - the program’s longest losing streak since Feb. 9-March 8, 1992. The Bears’ worst-ever skid was a nine-game losing streak from Dec. 7, 1979-Jan. 14, 1980, and Cal had another eight-game skid that season.
