Yep, UCF is paying Scott Frost’s assistant coaches a national championship bonus

0

The Knights are putting their money where their mouth is.

UCF is claiming a national title after finishing undefeated and beating Auburn in the Peach Bowl. AD Danny White said so on video during that game, and the Knights have backed it up on social media, with White saying they plan to hang a banner and everything.

Soooo ... how about contract bonuses for Scott Frost’s coaching staff, which amicably departed for Nebraska?

In response to a question from a Bama fan on whether UCF is really really going through with all this, White said:

That doesn’t include Frost himself, who was already maxed out on bonuses, per the terms of his contract.

A parade is already scheduled, the banner’s on the way, and we can assume rings will show up. What else? Can UCF convince Sports Illustrated to make magazine covers?

All of this is totally legitimate, in the context of this very silly sport. While Alabama or Georgia will be enshrined as the College Football Playoff’s champion and thus the official title-winner, plenty of teams have declared themselves champs with shakier evidence than what UCF’s got here. Like, did Minnesota go back and pay former head coach Henry Williams’ estate for the 1904 title it started claiming 108 years later? I haven’t had a look at his contract, so that’s just a joke among friends.
