Siena's Shivers looks for fresh start in MAAC
Loudonville
The start of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference schedule presents a fresh start, and perhaps no one on the Siena men's basketball team could use it more than sophomore guard/forward Ahsante Shivers.
He missed 13 of 14 shots in the two games before the Christmas break, a loss at Memphis followed by a win over Holy Cross. He's scored a total of 11 points in the Saints' past three games. His scoring average has dipped to 9.8 per game, second on the team to junior guard Nico Clareth (16.8 ppg).
"I think it'll be a fresh start,'' said Shivers, a Maryland native, whose team plays at Marist in the MAAC opener on Friday.
