Why didn't we trade Deng and his extra $8 mil rather than Mozgov?

0

I hated the D'Angelo Russell trade because his scoring would have helped Lonzo tremendously. Nick Young basically was rejuvenated by Russell last year. Anyways, we trade Mozgov in that trade, but I was wondering why not have traded Deng instead? Deng carried $8 million more, but he provides virtually nothing. At least Mozgov wasn't terrible and was at least a big body capable of averaging 8 points 5 rebounds. Deng couldn't even average 4 points with 30 minutes last year. There is no way Brooklyn thought it was a deal breaker if we replaced Deng for Mozgov. Is it because Mozgov expressed his displeasure publicly instead of privately like Deng(not like last month). Though both have bad contracts, we would have had a better chance of increasing Mozgov's value than Deng's. $8 million could have helped us tremendously. The annual contract of Deng was $18 million and Mozgov's was $16. That was the price to keep David Nwaba and sign someone better than Bogut and Ennis. If Lonzo gets injured, we are down to Ennis and Clarkson as our backup guards. Yikess. Don't give me the excuse of mentoring, as you can sign 5 veterans at a combined $5 million to do some mentoring.

Also finally people have opened their eyes to what I said. Brook was a 1 year rental that wasn't going to get resigned. So many people were clamoring about him being worth the Russell trade. He's a good fit next to Randle, but not next to big men who like to shoot. Also, I wanted Ettore Messina as our next head coach, but we wanted a young coach with hype from his GSW run. I hated Walton's rotation last year with Lou Williams and Clarkson playing too late into 4th quarters that Russell and Randle barely had time to get warm in the final stretch. Anyone down for Mike Brown coaching tour 2.0? We went from Phil to Brown to D'Antoni to Scott to Walton. Why does the Lakers always hire people from within and rarely from the outside? Why not just spend $20 million a year to OKC GM SAM PRESTI. He basically traded Ibaka for PG13, since Ibaka got traded for Oladipo and Sabonis and same to INDIANA. Imagine what Presti could do in a bigger market with bigger toys to play with?
