Awesome angle of Georgia Dome implosion gets ruined by bus with impeccable timing

0

This would have been the one time traffic would have been welcome in Atlanta, and it wasn’t there.

This morning, Atlanta said goodbye to one of its greatest treasures that you’ll find inside of I-285, which circles the city — the Georgia Dome.

The Weather Channel, which is based out of the metro area, set up a camera that was in a perfect position to capture the implosion. It was out of the glare of the morning sunrise, and where bystanders were below the scene. Nothing can go wrong here, right?

Wrong. Just as the countdown stars, a MARTA bus strikes. Programming note: Keep your volume up, the commentary is excellent:

You can hear somebody next to the camera saying “Bus! F***! Get out of the way bus! Are you — piece of sh*t! Ughhhh!”

Imagine the anguish of talking to a bus trying to get it to move, in Atlanta no less, where our public transportation isn’t exactly known to be great or anything. Plus, our traffic is aggressively bad.

As the booms of the implosion happen, you hear the cheering of the people watching the sad event (for some of us) and then the bus starts to get out of the way. You know, when it’s finished.

It is very fitting that a MARTA bus pulled up on time to the Dome. Because for many of us that took trains and buses via MARTA, we didn’t always time out trips to places like the Dome, or Philips Arena, or Turner Field just right.

But for the exit, even the bus had to be right on time.

And of course, throw this in the long list of Atlanta sports failures.
