WCC women’s basketball: St. Mary’s eyes elusive NCAA berth
St. Mary’s returns its top three scorers — who also happened to be its top three rebounders — from last season’s team that went 20-13 and finished tied for second in the WCC at 13-5.
Junior forwards Megan McKay (10.7 points per game, 7.8 rebounds per game) and Sydney Raggio (10.3, 7.7) join senior guard Stella Beck (13, 5.3) in forming the core of head coach Paul Thomas’ team.
Thomas will rely heavily on Beck, the lone active senior on the roster.
“There’s only one true alpha out there,” Thomas said of Beck. “… She understands she’s the leader, so that puts that extra little juice in you. She’s just got the ‘it’ factor when it comes to that.
