[Men's Basketball] Hornets Can't Come Back From Late Indiana SE Run

ST. LOUIS, MO- After a first half run that showed no faulter from the Hornets, Indiana Southeast managed a second half comeback and lead to HSSU's first loss of the season (78-61).

Prior to the game, the team, coaches, and staff and faculty were honored for winning the American Midwest Conference tournament last season and being the first team in the program's history to make the NAIA National Tournament.

The Hornets and Grenaiders fought in the first half, HSSU never getting more than a 9 point lead. After Harris-State gained that 17-8, INSE went on a 9-2 run to threaten the Hornets once comfortable lead with jsut under 8:30 to play in the first half.

Harris-Stowe would be able to push their lead back to 7 with just 19 seconds to play as Julian Clarkson (JR/San Antonio, TX) drained a 3 on a second chance shot. Jamie Johnson would get off a mid-range jumper with jsut 2 seconds on the clock to make it 35-30 going into the half.

Rahsaan Johnson (SR/Pasaic, NJ) lead the Hornets today with 10 points and 9 rebounds. Julian Clarkson and Christian Wimbley (JR/St. Louis, MO) both chipped in 9 points a piece while Michael Gregg (SR/Columbia, SC) and, Deandre Clark (JR/Orange, VA), and Corey Wells, Jr. combined for 19 points.

Indiana Southeast has two players with 20 points. Jamie Johnson and Demetrius Stanton both put up double figures while Kerry Smith added in 13.

INSE found their rhythm in the second half, taking the lead from the Hornets just three minutes into the half and never looking back. The Hornets found themselves down by as much as 24 during the half as the Grenaiders shot 43% from the field and from three-point range and knocked down 12 free-throws.
