How the Jaguars make life miserable for opposing quarterbacks
It's taken a few years, but all the Jaguars' efforts to build a frightening defense have paid off.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have held four of their first seven opponents to single-digit points — something not seen in the NFL in over a decade. So how has their defense taken the NFL by storm? In recent years, the Jags have invested plenty of free agency dollars and premium draft picks into their D, and in 2017 all those additions have coalesced into a juggernaut that’s become damn near impossible to throw the ball on.
Calais Campbell, with plenty of help from Yannick Ngakoue and Dante Fowler, has spearheaded a pass rush that’s been on a different stratosphere than the rest of the league — and through seven games, they’ve chewed up and spit out every quarterback they’ve faced.
Geoff Schwartz goes to the tape to explain just how the Jags’ D is able to toy with offenses and get favorable matchups to exploit in the pass rush, which has been the foundation of their remarkable defensive turnaround.
