White Sox gift the Twins a win with a walk-off hit-by-pitch

0

What should we call this? Shrimp cocktail? A prawn?

The Twins might as well have hit a big red “Easy” button for how simple this win ended up being. Granted, they did have to load the bases in the bottom of the ninth to even get to the point where a walk-off hit-by-pitch was possible, but then the White Sox just handed it to them.

With Max Kepler at the plate and Juan Minaya on the mound, all the Twins needed was a base hit to win it with two oust already gone. Luckily it wasn’t even that difficult, as Minaya gave them the win on a silver plater when he hit Kepler in the ankle.

It’s not quite a shrimp, since that’s a literal WALK-off and this required Kepler to be put in some form of pain for him to take his base and send the run home. A hobble-off win? A cocktail shrimp? A prawn?

Whatever the name, the Twins now have a chance to pass the Yankees in the AL wild card race and take over the first wild card slot should New York lose to Boston later tonight.

This was the last walk-off win thanks to a batter being hit by a pitch since 1996, when Paul Molitor did it.

Luckily for the Twins, Kepler got right up and took his base after being hit so he got the win without being put in too much pain or actually being injured.
