NFL scores 2017: Results, highlights, and news from Aug. 20

Two games are set to take place on Sunday. Follow along with all the scores and highlights here.

Here are all of the highlights from the Falcons taking on the Steelers in Pittsburgh.

Falcons 7, Steelers 0: Mohamed Sanu picked up a first down with this absolutely disrespectful stiff arm. Terron Ward capped off the drive with a score.

The second week of the NFL preseason is nearly complete, with just two more games scheduled on Sunday before the Monday night contest wraps things up. Depth charts are starting to round into shape as we reach the halfway mark of the exhibition season.

The first game on Sunday pits the Falcons against the Steelers. Atlanta will be sitting out Devonta Freeman, who was diagnosed with a concussion last week. Freeman should be cleared well in time for the regular season, but the team is smartly being cautious with him. The Falcons are coming off a 23-20 loss to the Miami Dolphins, in which the defense gave up a 99-yard touchdown pass that decided the game.

The Steelers defeated the New York Giants, 20-12, last week, thanks to touchdowns by Terrell Watson and Cobi Hamilton. Rookie linebacker T.J. Watt was the star of the show, racking up five tackles and two sacks in limited action. He’ll likely earn a starting job out of the gate if he keeps up this kind of performance.

In the late game, the Saints travel to StubHub Center to take on the Chargers, who are smarting a bit after a 48-17 blowout loss to the Seattle Seahawks last week. Philip Rivers led the starting offense on a strong opening-drive touchdown, but the wheels quickly fell off when the backups entered. Kellen Clemens was dismal as the No. 2 quarterback, completing only 4 of 10 passes, throwing two interceptions, and losing a fumble. It would not be a surprise if Cardale Jones got more playing time this week.

The Saints couldn’t generate much offense in a 20-14 loss to the Cleveland Browns, but there were some positive notes from the game. Rookie running back Alvin Kamara did well as the starter, taking four carries for 35 yards while Adrian Peterson and Mark Ingram sat on the bench. However, the defense is already getting burned by injuries — cornerback Delvin Breaux is out with a broken fibula (after a misdiagnosis led to the Saints firing two doctors), while first-rounder Marshon Lattimore is dealing with a knee injury.

Both games are being televised on NFL Network and streaming online at Watch NFL Network.
