Mo Ammo
Had a lot of personal stuff going on the last few months, sorry about however scarce I was during the playoffs I couldn't even estimate the scarcity. I don't want you guys to think that I don't revel in the present because that's not at all the case. I can see how one would get that impression, or dismiss my opinions because of my aversion to the advanced stats. As a former player myself, trying out for the G- League several times in 2012 and 2013, and getting contacted back once, I don't feel as though they are as necessary for me as an observer of the game. For example, once I watch a player in one NBA game, maybe like 10 possessions, I can picture and assume with a high level of accuracy how they move and their tendencies within the game. I have what you might call a videographic memory. And as far as my posting tendencies, like I said, there has been a lot going on and I don't have access to be online freely at work in any of the type of jobs that I have.
So. I think we had a summer beyond reproach, with retaining Ig, JaVale, and Liv and getting hold of Jordan Bell. I made a long fanpost during the Utah series about Zaza which unfortunately didn't get through but suffice to say I find him very expendable. I think the addition of a decent defensive wing in Casspi, who is at least a better shooter than Shumpert, may prove quite handy. Other players I find expendable at this point are Jones and Looney.
As a dynasty, it is nice to have ringchasers and other roster vets with some type of tie to the Warriors/ Bay Area join in. I worked at ASW2000 and I wanted Vince Carter this summer. Obviously he wants more playing time this year than the Dubs can offer, which is totally his prerogative with his level of remaining effectiveness. However, someone that would be great to bring back and is still possible right now is Anthony Morrow. He was so enjoyable to me. With the new G- League contracts, it is unclear who will be in Santa Cruz versus not making the organization this year at all. But as opined when Jones was drafted, he could be better put to use on another franchise. I saw him (and still do) as basically a less athletic Ezeli, and we had many preferable options IMO that slid to our #30. We could even have snagged McCaw first and then bought a big in the 2nd round or signed undrafted yaknow. As for Looney, sigh. This does not seem like the franchise for him either. Now looking at Denver, positionally they can acquire them. Since there is no main true 3 aside of Wilson, they will have 3 by committee anyway, so the combo forwards might as well play more there than at the 4. Apparently Denver has serious playoff aspirations (in their view, lol) with their phenom center, Millsap, and the other perimeter guys. I propose we give Denver Looney and Jones to swap picks. It may be only 11-13 positions difference anyway (obligatory Leastern Conference implication) and going forward it is a good idea financially for Denver (Looney RFA 2019 and Jones 2020). I loved Mason Plumlee in Brooklyn, but people have been down on him and Portland might be the least relevant team in the league to me. Sad summer for he and Noel; stupid owners have struck again (in 2016). Anyway, let's sign Morrow for minimum and if necessary we can clear space on the roster with that move.
