Where ‘Last Chance U’ stars from both seasons are playing in 2017
Here’s where the show’s 16 biggest names (counting a few non-players) will be this fall.
JUCO football doc series Last Chance U is now back with a second season on Netflix. It's excellent again.
In light of that, it's time to catch up on where the show's alumni are for the 2017 season. These aren't all the players who've gone through East Mississippi Community College since 2015, but they are the ones the show's featured most prominently.
(Some spoilers, obviously.)
Season 1
- QB John Franklin III, formerly of Florida State, was long hyped as Auburn's next star JUCO QB. (You might've heard of Cam Newton.) Franklin threw 26 passes for the Tigers in 2016 and moved to receiver in spring ball. Now he’s transferring, destination currently uncertain.
- QB Wyatt Roberts left to attend Mississippi State as a regular student. Dan Mullen invited him to walk on as a scout-teamer. In 2016, EMCC counselor and series star Brittany Wagner joined the two QBs at Auburn-MSU.

- RB D.J. Law signed with UAB but won't join the Blazers as their program returns. Injuries and academics hampered him, and head coach Bill Clark said the RB could play in the NAIA (non-NCAA college ball) or Canada.
- DL Ronald Ollie, the season's most beloved player among viewers, transferred to FCS Nicholls State. He recorded 41 tackles and this Piesman-worthy TD and is now transferring again.
- DL Marcel Andry followed Ollie, played in 10 games, and appears to be staying for his senior year at Nicholls.
- DB C.J. Reavis will start at safety for Marshall after ranking as one of the Herd’s leading tacklers in 2016. The former Virginia Tech freshman was expected to start for the Hokies until a murky dismissal from the university.
- RB Isaiah Wright, who took over for Law as the team's top RB in 2016, eventually signed with Division II West Georgia after an all-around brutal year. But he left the school before the 2017 season. His 2015 kick return and 2016 flip TD might’ve given him the wildest highlight from both of the show’s seasons.
Season 2
- QB De'Andre Johnson was booted by FSU after video showed he'd punched a woman at a bar. The show depicts Division I coaches being cautious about showing interest in him. He'll play for FAU in 2017, though the signing was at least partly in motion before Lane Kiffin's arrival.

- DL Chauncey Rivers, kicked out by Georgia over weed, is now on Mississippi State's roster. The show presents him as diligent and passionate.
- LB Dakota Allen lost his spot at Texas Tech because of a burglary charge but is returning to TTU after leading EMCC in tackles and appearing to be a model citizen on the show.
- DL Tim Bonner is also at FAU, as is QB coach Clint Trickett. You wouldn't put it past Kiffin to sign players just because they're on a TV show, but the former Louisville signee and Ole Miss commit certainly has talent.
- DL Kamonte Carter will suit up for Pitt against his former school, Penn State. Carter landing at a Power 5 school was likely a surprise to EMCC position coach Davern Williams, based on their filmed relationship.
- QB Vijay Miller, Johnson’s true freshman backup who’s totally outmanned in his one start but makes a Hollywood-grade clutch throw later, is now throwing for a little college football team named the San Diego Padres’ minor league system. (Shout out to reader Chris from Villanova for pointing this out.)
- EMCC's leadership also got a major shake-up at the end of 2016. Tempestuous head coach Buddy Stephens is back in 2017, but both coordinators and Trickett left the coaching staff as Wagner, the players' favorite grown-up on campus, left to start a business.
