Former Oilers forward breaks out familiar spinning shootout move in KHL exhibition game
NHL fans have seen this one before, and it’s a beauty.
Even in the doldrums of the NHL offseason, there’s sometimes a wave or two of fun hockey moments. This time, it’s former Oilers and Sabres forward Linus Omark providing the spark in the form of a silky shootout goal.
In a KHL exhibition game for Salavat Yulaev Ufa, Omark took the puck on his backhand before going in with an unexpected spin move. We’ll let the rest of the goal speak for itself.

Omark has been known to put up some shifty shootout goals in the past. This one looks very similar to this shootout goal from his first career NHL game back in 2010, where he toasted goaltender Dan Ellis on the game winner.
The Lightning were not too happy about that move either, as Ellis was quoted after the game saying the move was “embarrassing” and “not a very classy thing,” according to ESPN.
Even Steven Stamkos, current Tampa Bay captain, had some choice words for Omark after the game.
"I didn't think it showed a lot of respect in this game. I mean, you don't see Crosby or Ovechkin doing that and they're the two best players in the game. [Omark's] a creative player, he's got good skill. I'm not taking that away from him, but it didn't really have any implication on his moves, so I don't know why he did that."
Luckily for the Lightning, Omark left the NHL after the 2013-14 season and has since been putting up big numbers in the KHL. Good thing, too, as we’ve been graced with another beautiful shootout goal. Keep on doing your thing, Omark.
