Arron Afflalo, Magic agree to 1-year deal, per report

Afflalo is headed back to Orlando.

Arron Afflalo has agreed to a one-year deal with the Orlando Magic, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The contract is worth the veteran’s minimum $2.1 million. This will be Afflalo’s second stint in Orlando, after he averaged 17 points per game for the Magic over two seasons from 2012-14.

Afflalo played for the Sacramento Kings last season and averaged eight points and two rebounds in 26 minutes, his lowest totals in seven seasons. He did shoot 41 percent from three-point range on 2.5 attempts per game though, remaining efficient at what he does best.

The 31-year-old guard/forward will have to fight for his minutes in a clogged Magic frontcourt. Evan Fournier will likely start at shooting guard, and behind him, newly-signed Jonathon Simmons, Terrence Ross, Mario Hezonja and rookie Jonathan Isaac will all be looking for playing time.

Afflalo, who has played for seven teams in 10 seasons, should also serve as a veteran presence on a young team.
