Barcelona vs. Juventus, International Champions Cup 2017: Time, TV schedule, and live stream

0

The ICC features a Champions League quarterfinal rematch on Saturday.

Preseason is underway for all of Europe’s big clubs, and two of the continent’s biggest sides get their preparation underway against each other. Barcelona and Juventus — who faced off in a UEFA Champions League quarterfinal last season — meet in New Jersey on Saturday night.

Because this is the first preseason game for both teams, expect star players to get just 30-to-45 minutes on the pitch, with most game time going to young and fringe players. Still, each coach will probably let the paying fans get a glimpse of Lionel Messi and Paulo Dybala.

Both teams are still in the midst of their summer transfer dealings, so the squads that fans see in the United States will have some additions and departures before the season starts. Juventus is expected to add a defender in the wake of Leonardo Bonucci’s departure, while Barcelona is fighting off bids for Neymar and looking to add to their midfield.

Juventus summer signing to watch: Rodrigo Bentancur

While Juve won’t expect the 20-year-old Bentancur to be a key player for them this season, the Uruguayan probably has a big future with the club. They’ll want him to make the most of his first exposure to the Juventus first team, so expect him to get plenty of time with his new teammates in preseason.

Fun Barcelona player to watch: Carles Aleñá

The same goes for Aleñá, a 19-year-old La Masia product who’s battling to take over from Andres Iniesta when the Barca legend retires. Aleñá made his first team debut last season while spending most of his time earning rave reviews for his performances with the B team. Early in the preseason, while stars are being brought along slowly, Aleñá should have a lot of chances to shine.

Compared to other friendlies, is this worth my time?

We’re guessing not, just because it’s the first one this season for both teams. They’re not going to be sharp and the stars aren’t going to play much. But there are still enough fun players to watch for this game to get 4/10.
