NBA Summer League Recap: Celtics blow out Warriors, 93-69

0

The Warriors played their fourth game in four nights tonight and it showed as the Celtics dominated from start to finish.

Summer league games can be hard to watch even when marquee rookies are playing, but there are few things worse than a blowout in which one team only makes two shots in the fourth quarter.

Unfortunately, it was the Golden State Warriors who got off to the slow start as they played their fourth game in four nights in the 2017 Las Vegas Summer League tournament. Looking like a team that had completely run out of gas, the Warriors took a 93-69 loss to a Boston Celtics squad playing without lottery picks Jalen Brown and Jayson Tatum.

The Warriors scored just five points in the first quarter as they shot just 10% and made just 2 of their first 23 shots in the first half. They never recovered from the bad start and the lead slowly ballooned.

Patrick McCaw was the bright spot once again, scoring 15 of the Warriors' 30 points in the first half and finishing with a game-high 20 points in just 25 minutes. He also added to his growing highlight reel with a buzzer-beater to end the first half.

The Celtics will advance in the tournament to face the winner of the game between the Sacramento Kings and Dallas Mavericks, which will begin at 5:30 p.m. PST tonight. As the Warriors have now played a brutal four games in four nights, their time in Vegas has come to an end with a 1-4 record. They earned their lone win in their first round game against a young Minnesota Timberwolves team last night. But their four roster players gained a little bit more court time and can start looking ahead to preparing for the regular season.
